So glad you joined us! If you&#8217;re unfamiliar with this event then you&#8217;re in for a treat. Each Spring and Fall, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oneroomchallenge.com\/featured-designers\" target=\"_blank\">20 Featured Designers <\/a>are selected by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oneroomchallenge.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\">Linda Weinstein<\/a> and the ORC team for a 6-week challenge where they each take us along on their journey to an incredible room transformation! Feeling inspired? <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oneroomchallenge.com\/orc-blog\" target=\"_blank\">Guest Participants<\/a>, like yours truly, with a blog or Instagram account can register and join in on the action. I knew that order and organization were important to me. But, I had no idea how vital they were to my everyday life until we started working on this shiplap install. I may or may not have had a panic attack &#8230; once or twice. After I calmed myself and was able to think rationally, I understood that a bit of chaos was needed to create beauty! <\/p>\n\n\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6021375135080120\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3858885546\"><\/ins>\r\n\t<script>\r\n         (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t<\/script>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So What Kind of Shiplap to Buy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For this easy horizontal shiplap install, we purchased <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/56VDb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">6&#8243; x 8&#8242; primed MDF shiplap siding<\/a>. This particular shiplap is self spacing and removes the hassle of having to manually space each individual piece, significantly reducing our install time. The added benefit of this shiplap already being primed should also make painting easier.<\/p>\n\n\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6021375135080120\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3858885546\"><\/ins>\r\n\t<script>\r\n         (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t<\/script>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Easy Horizontal Shiplap Install<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our first step in this easy horizontal shiplap install is creating vertical markings along our wall. These lines indicate the location of the studs. It&#8217;s very important to identify your studs if you want to properly secure your shiplap. We also chose a horizontal layout because it&#8217;s a simpler process and doesn&#8217;t require any additional wall structure install. In choosing these options we were able to really maximize our work time! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns no-bottom-margin is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1875\" height=\"2500\" src=\"https:\/\/neatlyliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/20191113_004251607_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1511\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1875\" height=\"2500\" src=\"https:\/\/neatlyliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/20191113_202409196_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1513\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We highly recommend using a <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/mgXQ37\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brad nailer<\/a> for fast and easy shiplap install. We filled all holes and spaces using <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/rnz53j\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dry dex spackling paste<\/a>. What we love about this product is it goes on pink and changes to white when completely dry. We then sanded it to a smooth finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns no-bottom-margin is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-3 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1875\" height=\"2500\" src=\"https:\/\/neatlyliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/20191113_202433605_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1515\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1875\" height=\"2500\" src=\"https:\/\/neatlyliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/20191113_222058413_iOS.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1517\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The horizontal, white shiplap definitely lends more to a farmhouse style. I believe this will allow for a cleaner look, while also keeping the focus on the horizontal shiplap. I have 2 contenders in mind but you&#8217;ll just have to wait until next week to find out what we chose! We will also be building, staining, and mounting our photo ledge!
