I recommend choosing a space in your home where this wall feature can be the focal point! We chose a tall empty wall in our entryway. Now, anyone who enters our home will immediately lay eyes on this 14 ft beauty! Since studs are typically inserted every 16&#8243; in the walls, we secured each wood piece every 16&#8243; to ensure they were hitting the studs. We first installed all the diagonal slats to get their correct spacing and placement. Determine the maximum height of your vertical slat pieces. As for the stain we used, it&#8217;s my personal combination of <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/WDqyrG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Natural Stain<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/q1VaO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Early American Stain<\/a>. I mix them until I&#8217;m happy with the new color! I really need to jot down the ratio! This then allowed us to fill the holes, using <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/eDaLg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">spackling paste<\/a>, lightly sand them and apply some touch-up paint. <\/p>\n\n\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6021375135080120\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3858885546\"><\/ins>\r\n\t<script>\r\n         (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t<\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To avoid holes in the front of the vertical slat pieces, we took a different approach. We used a <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/xW7qx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">brad nailer<\/a> and nailed 3 brad nails into the back of each slat. We then used a pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/7m5aqr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">cutting pliers<\/a> to cut each nailhead off, at an angle, so they&#8217;d be nice and sharp. Once we determined the placement of the individual vertical slat, we pushed it into the wall.
