It also ignited my love of accent walls and we haven&#8217;t slowed down since! <\/p>\n\n\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6021375135080120\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3858885546\"><\/ins>\r\n\t<script>\r\n         (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t<\/script>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Inspiration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It all started when this <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/pin\/864620828448431601\/feedback\/?invite_code=350368d931ce4e72b3459ef957e57345&amp;sender_id=864620965869594403\" target=\"_blank\">gorgeous photo<\/a> stopped my Pinterest scroll. The accent wall&#8217;s color, shelves, and decor all worked together in perfect unity. I was so inspired by the design and super motivated to create a similar look. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1867\" height=\"1400\" src=\"https:\/\/neatlyliving.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/DSC04932-1.jpg\" alt=\"wooden shelf and picture frame\" class=\"wp-image-935\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns no-bottom-margin is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>I showed Hubby the scroll stopping photo and very nonchalantly commented on how great the little wall feature would look in our home. He studied the photo for a while and then, to my utter disbelief said, \u201clet\u2019s do it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He didn\u2019t just mean let\u2019s do it sometime in the near future. Oh no, he meant let\u2019s do it in that very moment!  It took me a second for the shock to wear off, but then I was in full planning mode. We chose a tall and narrow wall right off of our garage entrance. It was a perfect size and the best part was knowing I&#8217;d be able to view this wall from my kitchen! This color is Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams and it&#8217;s the right balance of moodiness and warmth! We used <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/gbOxdv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hobby boards<\/a> because of their affordability and perfect size!  Hubby secured the 2&#8243; trim pieces using <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/QOjMD9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wood glue<\/a> to avoid filling screw holes. Since I already loved the wood color of the shelves, I chose to emphasize that color with a <a href=\"https:\/\/homedepot.sjv.io\/QB0Mz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">natural wood stain<\/a>. Mounting the shelves was also quite simple. This beautifully moody accent wall with contrasting natural wood shelves is a great beginner project! Completing our first DIY gave us the motivation to continue down this path! Since then, we&#8217;ve completed a <a aria-label=\"vertical shiplap (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/neatlyliving.com\/index.php\/2020\/02\/02\/3-day-nook-space-refresh\/\" target=\"_blank\">vertical shiplap<\/a> installation in our loft nook space and even created a modern <a aria-label=\"color block (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/neatlyliving.com\/index.php\/2020\/02\/16\/behr-color-block-accent-wall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">color block<\/a> wall.
