We added several laundry room updates and I’m loving the textures and contrast! The DIY projects included in our laundry room refresh were in collaboration with The Home Depot, as part of their Doer Project Campaign. With more everyday folks, like us, taking on home improvement projects, The Home Depot has evolved to accommodate how we DIY! Through their delivery and curbside pick-up, image search feature, project calculators, and truck/tool rental, it’s easier than ever to get more done! What’s even better is you can enjoy all these great features on the go when you download The Home Depot mobile app!

Window Trim
Bernard and I are big fans of clean lines. Adding a casing around this window was such an impactful project. It instantly elevated our laundry room space. We created this look by using 1/4″ plywood for the inner section and 3-1/2″ casing for the outer section, around the window. Bernard used a brad nailer to secure all the wood pieces and later filled the nail holes with some lightweight spackling paste. He followed that up with light sanding and lastly, he painted all the trim work.
Shiplap
Horizontal shiplap is by far one of the easiest DIY accent walls you can create! It brings in so much texture and really adds a new look to a space. It is for these reasons we chose to include shiplap as one of our laundry room updates. If you’re looking to install shiplap, then check out some of our shiplap blog posts for tips on how to get started:

DIY Shelves
You can never have too much storage so adding a couple of shelves seemed like a natural inclusion in our list of laundry room updates! These shelves were built using pine boards and stained a light brown. Not only are they functional, but they’re also very pretty to look at!
Painted Cabinets
I love asymmetrical features and use this style a lot in my designs. I thought it would be fun and interesting to create asymmetrical painted cabinets. Since this is a small space, all dark cabinets felt excessive. This design, however, allows me to have the best of both worlds, i.e., light and bright with dark and moody! I have to say, the hardest part of any paint project is the prepping. It may be tedious, but it’s an important and necessary step. The dark cabinets were painted using Behr Premium cabinet and trim paint in a satin finish. If you’re wondering about this gorgeous paint color, it’s Behr Cracked Pepper and it’s perfection!
Stone Tiling
We decided to include a stone backsplash in our laundry room update for the added texture and dimension. This is actually a peel and stick stone tile but we added some liquid nails on the back of each panel for better adhesion. This is a great way to create a rustic but modern design.

Black Cabinet Hardware and Faucet
Upgrading your finishes is one way to instantly elevate your space! The brushed nickel faucet and cabinet pulls in our laundry room no longer fit our design. We decided to upgrade to modern, black finishes and I love our choices!

Between working on this laundry room project and preparing our home for Christmas, we’ve been super busy! We have been relying heavily on the curbside pickup option when shopping at The Home Depot. We’ve reduced our shopping time which has allowed us to be more productive! I used The Home Depot mobile app to find us the perfect black faucet. It met all our requirements including great reviews! With us constantly on the go, The Home Depot mobile app is helping us get more done!

Your laundry room looks amazing!!!! You guys never disappoint!!!
Aw thank you so much!
Wow! Such a beautiful space! What I admire the most about your style is the high contrast look. It’s like color blocking on a neutral palette. It’s so refreshing to see your beautiful and unique take on design. Also, it’s cool to know stone now comes in peel and stick!
Thanks so much Felicia! We’re trying to create a brand that stands out so your words are truly appreciated!
Sorry if you’ve covered this (if you did please help me find where?) but what paint tool do you use? I wasn’t very lucky with a spray gun in the past and would like to try again. Thanks!
Hi! So we used Graco True Coat VSP sprayer.
Wow great and beautifully done! Are those MDF cabinets? Did they need to be sanded first/liquid sand when using the behr cabinet paint? Thanks!
Hi Cindy! We lightly sanded these cabinets prior to painting because it is recommended. It removes the existing sheen and prepares the surface for the new paint.
Love your style and work! Can you link to the glass containers with bamboo lids please!
